Stratigraphical Framework Committee (SFC) for the Middle Jurassic strata of Great Britain. The report provides a summary of lithostratigraphical scheme propthe osed by the SFC that aims to rationalise group and formation nomenclature for the Middle Jurassic of the entire onshore and the adjoining offshore areas of Great Britain. Representative surface and subsurface sections were selected from the author’s Jurassic study areas and correlated into a regional isometric panel diagram (Plate I, in pocket). Lateral correlation from one area to another was accomplished by means of committee study groups to arrive at an agreement between authors.

In Leopold von Buch formally named the rocks described by von Humbolt as the Jurassic System, from whence the term has come into general use. The immense wealth of fossils in Jurassic sediments of Britain (especially ammonites) meant that biostratigraphic zonation was further advanced for Jurassic sediments than for other periods. The volume thereby provides an up-to-date review of the Oxfordian-Kimmeridgian stratigraphy of Britain, calling on the extensive literature of over years. The youngest part of the Upper Jurassic (the Portlandian Stage) is not covered by this volume but is included in the companion GCR volume on the Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary interval.

I have three major problems with Jurassic Park and its sequels. #1. My brother-in-law is a geneticist and oncologist. He said that when he read Jurassic Park he laughed all the way through it; the science is that bad. Practically none of the thing.
